Hello, lovelies! How is everyone? I hope you are all having a beautiful day so far! It is morning where I am and it feels so nice outside. It is a bit atypical for spring/summer based on my location, but I'll take the brief change from hot and muggy weather today!

Speaking of the humidity, whenever it starts to get warmer outside, my hair definitely starts to be impacted. I tend to go for a simple or understated hairstyle in summer because the chances that my hair will get messier throughout the day are a lot higher then. However, simple doesn't have to mean boring! So, for today's post, I am detailing a few different hair accessories that can elevate simple hairstyles from basic to noteworthy. Let me know what you think!

Statement Headbands

Harper Headband Set - Anthropologie ($28)

If you've followed me for a while, you may have noticed that I really love headbands. I think they are such a great method of adding something extra to an outfit. A good statement headband can be a great investment into your personal wardrobe because it's such an easy way to bring out the elegance to any look.

Gemstone Barrettes

Set of 3 Pearly Barrettes - Anthropologie ($18)

There's not much else that can perk up an outfit like adding some sparkle, and a great way to do that is by wearing gemstone barrettes! Whether they are pearl, crystal, or rhinestone, clipping a barrette or two into a messy bun or up-do can be a perfect finishing touch.

Ornate Claw Clips

Gleam Claw Clip - Altar'd State ($11)

If you're aiming for an air of elegance, then look no further than an ornate claw clip. We all know that a good claw clip is a necessity for all sorts of up-do's, but there's just something effortlessly chic about adding a claw clip with extra detailing or engraving. To create a timeless look, use an ornate claw clip to twist up your hair in a stylish bun.

Bow Scrunchie

Solid Milano Scrunchie - Free People ($8)

For a bohemian-inspired look, try using a bow scrunchie. This accessory is perfect for when you're having a messy hair day but also want to create a fun, free-spirited look while maintaining a chic vibe. Not mention as an added plus, scrunchies can be really comfortable!

Hello, lovelies! I hope you have all been doing well. I have been in the process of moving into my new condo! It has definitely a long journey, but I am finally all moved in! At this time, I am getting unpacked and settled. I swear, you never really know how much stuff you have until it's time to move to a new location! However, this does provide a great opportunity for donating items that are no longer being used, so that is definitely a plus.

I have to say that during the moving process, my mom was such a huge help. She is very efficient in most everything she does, so having her assistance really made a huge difference. Although I have already thanked her profusely, I still can't wait to show my gratitude again when Mother's Day rolls around.  If you live in the US, this holiday is quickly approaching (Sunday, May 8th!) so now is the perfect time to find the best gifts for all the great moms out there. So for today's post, I wanted to feature some gift guides for Mother's Day 2022! Many of the featured gifts should also ship it time to be gifted on the actual day if ordered soon. Definitely take a look and let me know what you think!

Hello, lovelies! I hope you all have been doing well! Today I wanted to talk about a hobby of mine that has some great benefits - journaling. I've found that getting thoughts out of my head and onto paper is a great way to process through any challenging memories or feelings. It's also a great way to work towards goals and track habits. Keep reading to learn more about 3 benefits of journaling as well as some journal recommendations!

3 Benefits of Journaling

1. Increase Positive Mental Health

For anyone who is struggling with their mental health, journaling can have an amazing impact. Journaling utilizes both the analytical left side of the brain and the creative right side of the brain. Allowing your creativity to thrive while also implementing a rational activity like journaling can be a great emotional release and has shown to improve daily wellbeing.

Research has shown that journaling and expressive writing can improve one's overall sense of emotional wellbeing. It is also particularly helpful for people with a history of trauma or PTSD as journaling can be a great emotional processing technique. Even if there is no history of trauma in a person's life, journaling can help us become more self-aware and help us transition from a negative mindset to a more positive, rational one.

2. Improve Stress Management

As we all know, life can become very demanding at times. Sometimes life catches up to all of us and can become overly stressed out. Journaling has been shown to reduce stress symptoms and improve stress management. When stressed, try journaling as a coping skill to help with:

  • Exploring emotions
  • Release tension
  • Improving cognitive functioning
  • Planning options and considering multiple possible outcomes
3. Fostering Gratitude

Sometimes when our world gets to be very overwhelming, it can be difficult to see the good parts of life. While it is important to acknowledge when we are feeling upset or when we are going through a challenging experience, remaining mindful about the factors in our lives for which we re grateful can help to boost our moods.

Applying gratitude-based journaling to your everyday life can help to increase optimism (which can indirectly improve overall mental and physical health) and can assist in achieving progress towards personal goals. Gratitude journaling can also help to increase outward expressions of friendliness and engagement in prosocial behaviors, which can strengthen your social support system.

Journal Recommendations

So, you're wanting to take up journaling as a daily habit. Now what? Well, you'll need a journal that is best for you! Of course, you can find journals in various designs and styles at many different stores. However, I personally find that when I connect well with the look and feel of my journal, I am generally inclined to use it more frequently. So, I've provided a few journal recommendations below that can hopefully provide some inspiration for your journaling future!

For The Busy Bee

The Five Minute Journal - This is ideal for people who are consistently on the go but who would like to include gratitude journaling into small pockets of time during their day. This journal would be a great tool to help slow things down a bit and enjoy a few minutes of mindfulness.

For The Mental Health Advocate
The Anti-Anxiety Notebook - This journal was designed by therapists and mental health professionals to provide a tool to assist people in managing their worries, nervousness, and anxiety. They have a variety of journals designed for specific issues (such as depression and trauma) in mind, and, while they may not be a replacement for therapy, these notebooks are great tools to assist you on your mental health journey.

For The Bullet Journal Babe

LEUCHTTURM1917 - Medium A5 Plain Hardcover Notebook - This is a great choice if you are into bullet journaling! This journal comes in a wide array of colors and styles of pages (dotted, plain, ruled, or squared), and it the perfect size for travelling. Of course, the Moleskin Classic Notebook is another great choice for bullet journal lovers if you prefer a more well-known approach.

BONUS: For The Kiddos

Ananda Creative Gratitude Journal for Kids - If you have little ones, this is an easy way to introduce them to the ideas of gratitude and mindfulness early on. This creative guided journal will help children learn to manage their stressors while identifying positive factors that they can continue to focus on. These are necessary skills that they can carry with them throughout their lives.

Hello, lovelies! How has everyone been? Life has been so incredibly hectic for me lately. Luckily, I've still had some time to participate in some fun events and activities. I think it's so important to find time to engage in meaningful hobbies and interests that bring joy into our lives.

A recent event that I had the pleasure of attending was a local Valentine's Day arts and crafts market. There were booths for various local and visiting artisans, crafters, and other small businesses. I had such a blast and it was so nice to connect with local shop owners. They even had a photo shoot area that was decorated for the upcoming holiday.

How adorable is this set up? I had such a great time, especially since I got to wear my brand new dress from JessaKae! It is the Eloise dress in lilac. I got so many compliments and felt like a princess during the entire event. It's also really comfy and chic. Plus, if you're looking for a discount, you can use code SYDNEY10 at checkout for 10% off!

My other recent activities haven't have been as exciting, though they are still enough to spark joy. For example, sometimes I just love to get an iced chai tea latte and walk around Target. There's just something so calming about a Target during the mid-morning on the weekend. Does anyone else like to take photos while in Target? There's so many cute products!

Speaking of Target, have you checked out their new home decor items? I love the new spring selections that are coming into style. I'm definitely ready for a home decor refresh! Check out some of my favorite new products below!

from top left to right:

Berry Blossom & Daisy Candle / Dried Greenery Hanging Wreath / C'est La Vie Embroidered Wall Hanging / Almond Shortbread Candle / Wooden Picture Frame / Gingham Throw Blanket / Framed Portrait Wall Art / Square Rope Basket / Brass Canister / Rounded Basket

Current To-Do's

One of the main things that I'm trying to do more of recently is reading. I have always loved to read and escape in the world of a book. I definitely enjoy finding new stories and going along for the ride of a great book. The only problem lately is, of course, making the time to do it. Work and life seem to take up so much of every day! So, when I do get the time to delve into a book it is relished.

The next book on my to-read list is The Fifth Petal by Brunonia Barry. This is actually a sequel to a novel that I really enjoyed called The Lace Reader (by the same author, of course). I felt the first book did a great job of worldbuilding and immersing the reader into the story, which I really appreciated. Without giving too much away, it's about a girl returning to her hometown after her grandmother's mysterious passing. There's a lot of different themes that I felt were interesting, namely spirituality, mysticism, forgiveness, and grief. Needless to say, I'm excited to get into the next part of this story and see where it takes me!

Hello, lovelies! I hope that you all have been well! I'm not sure about you guys, but recently it's been so cold where I live. It's been so interesting because this is the type of weather that I was desperately trying to will into existence by wearing heavy layers and thick sweaters during autumn. While it seems that the manifestation process may have been successful, apparently there was a 2-3 month waiting period! Has it been chilly where you live?

Today I have an updated collection of some of my recent favorite purchases. I hope you enjoy reading and perhaps find something of interest for you, as well!

Clothing

A New Day Ribbed Tank & Pink Lily Plaid Poncho & Dreamers by Debut Leopard Print Cardigan

I've been absolutely loving this black and white plaid poncho from Pink Lily! It's so comfy to wear and I adore the aesthetic of it. Speaking of which, this leopard print cardigan is so on trend right now! In addition to the style factor, it is very cozy and warm which has been perfect for the weather recently. I'm also getting a lot of use out of this ribbed tank top by A New Day. You can't go wrong with a basic layering piece!

Bags & Accessories

Tory Burch Kira Chevron Pouch & Roman Numerals Statement Ring & Pink Touch Screen Stylus Pen

So my big ticket item and probably favorite recent purchase is the Kira Chevron Pouch by Tory Burch! I was on the hunt for a clutch bag that was large enough to carry my daily necessities but that was still travel friendly. Needless to say, this bag was exactly what I was looking for! I've also been getting a lot of use out of this stainless steel roman numerals ring - in fact, I'm wearing it as I type! I have larger hands so I was super happy to find it in my size, and it hasn't turned my finger green at all (which is a huge plus). Additionally, I've been trying my hand at digital artwork recently, so this pink stylus pen has been super helpful during that process. It connects perfectly to my iPhone and draws very smoothly.

Kitchen & Dining

Pink Lily Animal Print Mug & Jordan's Skinny Syrups - Mermaid

I don't know if you guys have tried any products from Jordan's Skinny Syrups, but I am obsessed! I am especially loving this syrup called 'Mermaid' from the same brand. It is a coconut and pineapple infused flavor that gives off the best tropical vacation vibes. Plus, it is sugar free, carb free, and zero calorie! Last, but certainly not least, this animal print mug from Pink Lily has been a major fave recently! It goes perfectly with my style and is right up my alley in terms of design. I love the pink lid!

Any with that, we have reached the end of today's update! Before I wrap this post up, I wanted to let you all know that I've added some new content to the site. The new sections are Freebies and Discount Codes & Partners. I've been lucky enough to team up with some wonderful brands to provide discounts and information on sales. Feel free to check them out - any support is always greatly appreciated!

Hello, lovelies! It has been a while, hasn't it? Christmas and New Year's were so bustling and busy that I couldn't get much done in the way of blogging. I hope that you all had a beautiful holiday season filled with joy and merriment! I do have to say, though, I am ready for a new year. That leads me to today's post - 2022 Vision Board Ideas!

What is a Vision Board?

A vision board is a personalized creation that features your very own desires and dreams for the future in the form of photos, illustrations, words, and quotes. These often come from magazines, print outs, or online graphic sources. The idea behind vision boards involves manifestation. I'm sure you've heard of that term, as it is used very frequently nowadays. Manifesting essentially means to call a wish or goal into reality. This is definitely a part of traditional vision boards. However, remember that manifestation can look different for everyone. The general message behind manifestation is that what you place your attention on in terms of visions for the future, that is where your energy will culminate.

How to Create a Vision Board:

Before putting any ideas to paper, it may be helpful to meditate, journal, and focus on the goals and dreams that you have for the upcoming year. Consider not only what you want, but what you need and what you already have. Think about your life in a multifaceted way - relationships, career, finances, home life, bodily health, mental health, etc. What are your areas of current strengths? What areas are you wanting to improve upon and how so? What steps are needed to take to achieve these goals?

Being in a clear, logical headspace may make it easier to consider these terms. Meditate, take a relaxing bath/shower, light some candles or turn on a diffuser, and create an overall soothing space for you to begin your vision board work.

Be Specific and Positive:

When looking for your images, quotes, and phrases, use what you are drawn to and what inspires you. Remember that what you are putting on your vision board is what you DO want, NOT what you want to avoid. The goal of a vision board is to draw in the positive that life has to offer. You can use magazines, print outs, and image searches to find just the right image.

Once you've found all of the images you'd like to use, you'll need a piece of paper or poster board to attach them to, like a collage. If you prefer putting things together digitally, there are several websites that can assist you in putting together a digital vision board that can be printed afterwards, if desired!

Image Search Ideas: Google Images, Pinterest, WeHeartIt, ShutterStock

Digital Vision Board Creators: Canva, PicMonkey Vision Board, Desygner

Take some time to create your vision board, try not to rush through it. Put intention and focus onto the images you choose. What drew you to your select pictures? What do they represent in terms of your goals? Be as specific as you can with your intentions - get a clear picture of what you're striving towards.

Interact With Your Vision Board Everyday:

While you don't have to engage with your vision board consistently throughout the day, it is helpful to keep your vision board in a space where you will encounter it at some point during each day. This process helps to remind you of your goals, the steps needed to achieve them, and to create a sense of motivation to continue working towards your visions. You want to keep your vision board in your consciousness and at close reach in your mind. You can even create a portable vision board in a notebook or on a smaller, travel-friendly poster.

Say "Yes" To Opportunity:

When working with your goals through a vision board, it's important to remember that, ideally, new opportunities will present themselves so it's necessary to be open to new adventures and perspectives. You can create all the vision boards in the world, but if you aren't taking new chances or saying yes to the opportunities that the universe presents to you, it will be very difficult to achieve your goals. For example, a vision board can't get you hired for a new job if you don't send in the application first!

Consider creating a new vision board around every 6-12 months, or when you have a new goal that you are working on! Remember to be gentle and kind to yourself during this process, and to be open to the wild, new, and unknown.

A 2022 Vision Board Example:

I have featured one of my visions boards for the year of 2022 below! It relates specifically to career and finances. I hope it sparks some inspiration in you!

Have you ever created a vision board? Are you planning on creating one for 2022? What are your favorite tips, tricks, and ideas for vision boards? Let me know in the comments! Until next time!

Hello, lovelies! How is everyone? I recently had my birthday! I was able to spend time with my friends and family which was so lovely. I posted more about that on my Instagram account if you're interested in seeing more on that!

Today, I wanted to do another quick recap on some of my recent favorite purchases. These following items are definitely worth checking out, either for yourself or someone else!

Clothing

Pink Lily Burgundy Cardigan & Nasty Gal Oversized Satin Button Up & Nasty Gal Check Smock Midi Dress & H&M Rib-Knit Tank Top

This burgundy cardigan from Pink Lily is definitely way up there on my list of new favorite purchases! It is quite oversized so I was able to order a size down when I saw that my preferred size was out of stick. It also comes in a variety of colors if burgundy isn't your jam. I'm also a huge fan of this satin button up for the office and this ribbed tank top for those leisurely days. Finally, I absolutely love this purple and white checkered dress, so much so that I wore it for my birthday brunch!

Bags

Amazon Insulated Lunch Bag & Louis Vuitton Monogram Pochette Orsay

I have been needing a new lunch bag to take to work for the longest time, so I was very pleased when I came across this insulated leopard print lunch bag. It is just big enough to hold enough for lunch without being overly bulky or obstructive. The insulation is a great addition, too. If you're on the hunt for a good lunch bag, I'd definitely recommend trying that one out! Also, for my birthday this year, I was so lucky enough to find a Louis Vuitton Orsay listed for resale! It was absolutely my birthday gift to myself but I am so happy I treated myself to it. Pro Tip: if you've ever wanted to purchase a luxury item, I'd always encourage buying secondhand if possible! A lot of secondhand and reselling websites offer free authentication services, and it's a great way to save some money in the long run! If you're interested in this specific bag, I have a few options available here, here, and here! Or, if you're wanting a similar, inspired version, check out the bags available here, here, or here!

Self Care

Self-Care Shower Eucalyptus Bundle & Tree Hut Vitamin C Shea Sugar Body Scrub & Monthly Budget and Expense Tracker

I don't know about you guys, but there is just something so pleasing about taking a hot shower with a bundle of eucalyptus hanging nearby. If you've never tried it, it's really worthwhile! Eucalyptus is really helpful to use in an aromatherapy sense, and I find that it helps me feel super relaxed. Plus, it has also helped me clear out my sinuses if when I've had a head cold! If you're looking for an ethical and sustainable supplier of eucalyptus, lavender, and more, check out Self Care Shower and use code LOTUSLLY for 10% off. I'm really loving using this body scrub in the shower, as well! It smells very citrus-y without being overpowering and it leaves my skin glowing. Last but not least, this budget and expense planner has been super helpful in managing my finances. With the holidays coming up, I felt I needed an easy to use and effective method to help me keep track of everything financially as I tend to buy lots of gifts for people. This tracker has been a great tool to do just that!

And with that, we have reached the end of my most recent favorite purchases! What have you been loving lately? Is there anything specific you'd recommend? Let me know in the comments!
